The original Pond Lily design was produced for only a brief period, from approximately 1902 to 1906. Its shade depicts pond lily stems, leaves and blossoms floating upon water, while the sculptural base continues the same natural theme, creating a remarkable harmony between glass and metalwork.

In 2018, an outstanding original example sold at Christie's New York for US$3,372,500, establishing a world auction record for a Tiffany Studios lamp at that time. Christie's praised its exceptional artistic glass selection, beautifully aged bronze patina, and the remarkable harmony between its shade and sculptural base. The same lamp had previously sold at Christie's in 1989 for US$550,000.

The shade features cascading vertical panels of blue, violet and amber art glass above a garden of luminous flowers, leaves and jewel-like accents. When illuminated, the carefully selected glass reveals extraordinary depth, colour variation and warmth.

Beneath the shade, the sculptural solid bronze base is decorated with overlapping pond lily pads, curling stems and emerging leaves. The botanical details visually continue the floral composition of the shade, creating the same artistic harmony between glass and bronze that made the original Pond Lily lamp one of the most celebrated Tiffany designs ever produced.

Every piece of stained glass is carefully hand-selected by our artisans to achieve the most harmonious balance of colour, texture and light. The shade is then assembled using the traditional Tiffany copper-foil technique by highly experienced craftsmen whose skills have been refined over many years.

Because of its extraordinary complexity, this shade is constructed from approximately 1,520 individually cut pieces of stained glass and 80 hand-soldered decorative glass jewels. Every glass piece must be precisely shaped, wrapped in copper foil and soldered entirely by hand.

The production process requires considerable time, patience and craftsmanship, making this one of the most intricate lamps in the Joanne Tiffany Signature Collection. For this reason, production is intentionally limited and each lamp is made only after an order is placed.
